Open-ended belt is used for the drive system of the tool transport device, simplifying the structure and reducing costs.
Open-ended belt
overview
In machining center tool magazines, the drive system for the lifting and traveling mechanism that removes tools has faced challenges in simplifying the device configuration and reducing costs.
Therefore, by adopting Open-ended belt, we were able to create a configuration that allows the motor to be driven without being mounted on the moving part, thereby reducing the weight of the moving part.
This enables Cable Carrier (CABLEVEYOR) vehicle-less structure that eliminates the need for moving cables, improving maintainability and reliability.
The simple configuration ensures stable operation while also contributing to reducing the cost of the entire device.
Problem
Tool magazines for machining centers require a mechanism that can lift and move smoothly and accurately from the rack storing the tools to the desired position.
Conventionally, this transfer mechanism has often used a rack-and-pinion system, which means that the drive motor moves together with the removal mechanism, resulting in issues such as increased weight of the moving parts and a complex structure.
Additionally, as the motor moved, the cable wiring also needed to move, leaving room for improvement in terms of overall equipment cost and maintainability.
Adopted products
Open-ended belt
This is an open-end belt that can be used over Gliding arrangement.
Ideal for reciprocating drives and Gliding arrangement transmission.
The length can be specified in three ways: by number of teeth, by metric length, or by standard length.
You can choose from PX Belt RC Type, Ultra PX Belt HC Type, HA specification, and HY Type.
Benefits of adopting the product
By using Open-ended belt for the lifting and running parts, the removal mechanism can be driven simply by rotating the pulley, eliminating the need to install a motor in the moving part.
This significantly reduces the weight of the moving parts, allowing the entire device to have a simple structure.
Furthermore, by fixing the motor, no moving cables are required, making it possible to eliminate Cable Carrier (CABLEVEYOR) carrier, which also reduces wiring problems and improves maintainability.
Compared to the rack and pinion system, the number of components can be reduced, enabling both reduced equipment costs and stable transport operations.
Furthermore, by combining other moving parts within the equipment with products such as Cable Carrier (CABLEVEYOR) depending on the application, the entire equipment can be configured to be optimized for each application.
