Synchronous Belts / Belt Sprockets

overview

In the folding drive section of a honing machine, Synchronous Belts is used in an environment where coolant fluid is splashed.

Conventional belts are susceptible to the effects of oil and moisture in coolant fluid, leading to deterioration of the teeth and a reduced lifespan.

Therefore, we adopted an HA specification Synchronous Belts that combines oil resistance and water resistance.

It maintains stable operation even under harsh machining environments, leading to a reduction in maintenance burden.

Problem

In honing machines, Synchronous Belts is used in the reverse drive section that connects the grinding wheel motor shaft and the rotating shaft.

In this process, coolant was prone to splashing, and the belt was in an environment where it was susceptible to the effects of oil and moisture.

Conventional Synchronous Belts, which were previously used, were prone to deterioration of the teeth due to coolant fluid adhesion, often resulting in premature tooth breakage and reduced lifespan, making frequent replacement a problem.

Switching to a belt that can handle both oil and moisture and maintain stable operation was being considered.

Adopted products

Ultra PX Belt HA specification (oil/water resistant)

This belt offers the same high strength and precision as the Ultra PX-HC, plus oil and water resistance.

By using oil-resistant rubber, the belt's physical properties remain virtually unchanged even in environments exposed to oil and water.

It has the same transmission capacity as Ultra PX Belt HC Type, and its operating elongation is extremely low.

*This is a made-to-order product (orders can be placed for a single unit, except for the 14mm pitch).

Benefits of adopting the product

By adopting an HA specification Synchronous Belts that offers both oil and water resistance, the gear teeth are less likely to deteriorate even in environments where coolant is splashed and oil and water are mixed.

Even under conditions where conventional belts are susceptible to damage, this belt suppresses premature tooth breakage and reduced lifespan, allowing for stable operation over a long period.

This reduces the frequency of belt replacements and lessens the effort required for regular maintenance.
