The rail width adjustment mechanisms used in railway vehicle testing equipment have traditionally used hydraulic cylinders, which have presented issues such as environmental concerns due to oil leaks and the labor costs involved in repairs and inspections.
Furthermore, due to the underground installation and the effects of rainwater, specifications that were resistant to corrosion were also required.
By adopting an electric cylinder, the risk of environmental pollution due to oil leaks was eliminated and maintenance work was significantly reduced.
In addition, the use of an IP56 motor and stainless steel parts ensures water resistance and corrosion resistance, enabling stable operation even in harsh environments.
Problem
Conventionally, hydraulic cylinders have been used in rail width adjustment mechanisms in railway vehicle testing equipment.
However, there was a risk of environmental pollution due to oil leaks, and the high maintenance burden was an issue, as it required a great deal of man-hours to identify and repair the leak.
In addition, because the equipment was installed underground, it was subject to direct rainwater exposure, and under normal specifications, the risk of corrosion was unavoidable.
Therefore, there was a need for a solution that offered higher water resistance and corrosion resistance.

This is an electric cylinder in the medium thrust zone with a rated thrust of 2.45kN or more that can be used with AC (alternating current) power.
Featuring a powerful load-holding brake motor, a low-noise gear reduction unit, a highly efficient Ball screw developed for cylinders, a safety mechanism to protect the mating device, and a wide range of options, it can be used for any application. Outdoor use is possible as standard. (Motor protection rating IP55)

Benefits of adopting the product
