By changing the sprockets on the scraper conveyor, which transports steel pieces such as slabs, blooms, and billets, to a split type, we were able to significantly reduce the number of man-hours required to replace the sprockets.
Problem
To replace a conventional sprocket, two people had to lift the shaft and cut the sprocket in two while they were doing so to remove it from the shaft.
The space was very small and it was very difficult to work.
