Items transported by conveyor are stored on four shelves before being transferred to the AGV.
In this case, the third and fourth stages were previously lifted using a lifter that used an air cylinder.
By replacing the lifting mechanism of this lifter with Zip Chain Actuator, it became possible to automate storage not only on the upper shelves but also on the bottom shelves.
Problem
The third and fourth shelves are over 2m high, so it was dangerous to work on them by hand, so we used an elevator with an air cylinder.
However, due to space limitations, lifters using air cylinders could not automate storage at low positions, so the storage work still had to be done manually.
We were looking for a mechanism that could automate the storage of transported items on all shelves in order to ensure worker safety and reduce labor costs.

Zip Chain Actuator
The interlocking chain (Zip Chain) is a chain developed exclusively by our company in which two chains interlock like a zipper to form one strong rod that can be "pushed and pulled."
Zip Chain Actuator is a completely new linear actuator that uses this mechanism.
Zip Chain can be stored in a compact case, achieving overwhelming space savings compared to conventional linear actuator.
It is compatible with high-speed, high-frequency operation and uses significantly less power than hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders.
It is possible to stop at multiple points with high precision, and the installation direction is free.
Benefits of adopting the product
By replacing the lifting mechanism with Zip Chain Actuator the lifter used to raise and lower transported items was able to be lowered, automating the storage of transported items on all shelves, including the lowest shelf, which previously had been stored by hand.
Not only did it reduce man-hours, but it also improved the working environment by eliminating tasks that had to be performed in a low position.
