In a rubber sheet manufacturing line, Surface treated drive chain with NEP Series was adopted for the drive unit of the rollers that transport wet sheets.
Despite the high humidity and the risk of water droplets getting on the chain, NEP Series of the coated Drive chain provided both corrosion resistance and strength.
Problem
The device was designed using a general-purpose chain, but corrosion became a problem due to a more corrosive environment than anticipated.
On the other hand, in order to address the issue without significantly altering the configuration of existing equipment, a chain was needed that maintained the same transmission capacity as a general-purpose chain while offering enhanced corrosion resistance.

Surface treated drive chain NEP Series
By combining a special coating and a special resin coating, Drive chain maintains the strength of RS roller chain while offering high corrosion resistance (rust prevention) and chemical resistance.
Furthermore, the rust-preventive surface treatment does not use harmful hexavalent chromium, nor does it use any other harmful substances such as lead, cadmium, mercury, or arsenic, and complies with the RoHS Directive*.

Benefits of adopting the product
NEP Series Surface treated drive chain offers the same transmission capacity as general-purpose chains while being resistant to corrosion caused by humidity and water droplets. This eliminates the need to increase the size, as would be required when switching to a stainless steel chain, and improves corrosion resistance.
