overview

To reduce the labor required to replace sprockets on bucket elevators used to transport fuel (wood chips, construction waste) for biomass power generation, we have adopted a ring-replaceable tooth type sprocket for Large size conveyor chain, which allows only the worn teeth to be replaced.

Problem

The sprockets that had been used previously had a short lifespan of just seven months, so we wanted to reduce the amount of work required for replacement while also lengthening their lifespan to reduce the frequency of replacement itself.

Smart Replaceable Series Large Size Conveyor Chain Sprockets

Sprocket for Large size conveyor chain.

Replacing a sprocket takes a lot of time and effort. It may be necessary to cut off the shaft, which can be even more dangerous when working at height.

Tsubaki's large conveyor sprocket "Smart Replaceable Series" solves the problem.

*In this case, a special specification was used.

Benefits of adopting the product

The tooth replacement ring type allows you to replace only the teeth without removing the sprocket from the shaft, and is equipped with Indicator pins (replacement notification mark), reducing the labor required to inspect and replace the sprocket.

In addition to the highly wear-resistant thermal spray coating (*), tests were also conducted on sprockets coated with epoxy resin paint as a corrosion prevention measure. This extended the lifespan to two years, more than double the previous model.

Furthermore, by using the shaft assembly service, the sprocket was delivered already assembled, which made it easy to install on the conveyor.

*Special hardening treatment has been applied to dramatically extend the wear life.

Customer testimonials

Replacing sprockets for bucket elevators requires high-altitude work, so achieving a longer life reduces the frequency of replacement, which is also very helpful from a safety perspective.

We are also considering replacing other lines in due course.

Tsubaki will do its utmost to support you in solving any problems you may have.
