overview

Power Cylinder was adopted for the precise adjustment of the parabolic antenna's horizontal and ground angles. Unlike conventional gear systems that directly drove the rotating shaft, Power Cylinder reduces backlash by driving the arm tip, which is located away from the axis. Furthermore, backlash is further reduced by adjusting the clearance of the screw shaft. In addition, feedback control ensures reliable positional maintenance, enabling stable information reception.

Problem

High precision is required for adjusting the angle of a parabolic antenna. However, with conventional gear systems, it was difficult to reduce backlash because reducing the gap between gears too much increases friction and the risk of seizing.

Adopted products

Power Cylinder U Series

The U series Power Cylinder is compact and lightweight, with a rated thrust of over 6 tons.

Power Cylinder has succeeded in achieving smaller size, lighter weight and improved cost performance while maintaining the same capacity as the conventional T series.

Benefits of adopting the product

By changing the drive mechanism from gears to Power Cylinder, precise angle adjustment with reduced backlash became possible. Feedback control ensures that the intended angle is reliably maintained, contributing to stable reception of satellite signals. Furthermore, the simplified structure makes it easier to manufacture the device and allows for a more compact overall design.
