technical data Large size conveyor chain Handling

8. Maintenance and Inspection

1. At rest

Always stop the conveyor in an unloaded state to avoid overloading when starting it up. Also, if the conveyor has been stopped for an extended period of time, be sure to inspect the chain before starting it up.

2. Lubricating

Unless lubrication is not possible, lubricate the chain regularly.

3. Fixing parts

Buckets, aprons, slats, and other items that are bolted to the chain may have nuts loosened and fallen off due to vibrations during operation, so use spot welding or other methods to prevent the nuts from loosening.

4. Chain slack

Check and adjust the chain slack periodically. For details, see Adjusting Chain Tension.

5. Temperature and condensation

When there is a temperature difference between day and night in winter, or when a case conveyor intermittently transports items that are warmer than the outside temperature, condensation may occur and water may accumulate inside the conveyor. This may cause corrosion of the chain and shorten its lifespan. If the conveyor is transporting wet items or water accumulates on the conveyor, please drain the water as well as lubricate and inspect it.

6. Chain storage

We recommend that you prepare a spare chain in case of a malfunction. When storing your chain, keep it indoors in a low-humidity location. If storing it for a long period of time, apply anti-rust oil.

7. Conveyor Preventive Maintenance

Regarding the above maintenance and inspection, if you create a conveyor history and regularly record the conveying capacity, conveying speed, spindle rotation speed, current, voltage, power, actual operating hours, actual conveying volume, inspections, lubricating dates, accidents, etc., you can prevent unexpected breakdowns and make repairs easier.

8. Cleaning

If foreign objects or transported materials get on the chain or chain rail, clean it regularly.
