Checking the conditions necessary for selecting a roller chain

  • 1) Machine used
  • 2) Type of impact
  • 3) Type of engine
  • 4) Rated power of the prime mover
  • 5) High-speed shaft bore diameter and rotation speed
  • 6) Low-speed shaft bore diameter and rotation speed
  • 7) Center distance

Checking the engine characteristics necessary for chain selection

When selecting allowable tension and pin gear drive, please check the following motor characteristics.

  • 1) Moment of inertia of the prime mover
  • 2) Rated torque of the prime mover or prime mover shaft speed
  • 3) Starting torque of the prime mover
  • 4) Maximum (stall) torque of the prime mover
  • 5) Braking torque of the prime mover

⚠Notes on selection

Each section on selecting roller chains is limited to selecting the type and size of roller chain, and does not take into account environmental degradation such as corrosion and aging.

If there are laws or guidelines regarding the selection of roller chains, please select according to those laws and guidelines as well as our designated method, and choose the chain with the larger margin. Please also take into consideration additional equipment such as safety devices and lubrication devices when making your selection.
