Application Examples Cam Clutch - 9. Cloth Dryer

application

Overrunning

When outer race of the Cam Clutch are engaged and torque is transmitted, the difference in rotation speed and direction of outer race causes
This is a method of use in which the wheel spins freely and repeatedly, similar to the freewheeling motion of a car.

Application Examples

Layout

This is a device that dries dyed fabric or thread by hanging it on rolls arranged above and below and passing it through a furnace.
All rolls are driven by chains in the same direction at the same rotation speed.
Meanwhile, as the cloth on the roll dries,
The space between the upper and lower rolls shrinks, so each roll tries to rotate faster than the speed driven by the chain.
When a cam clutch is attached to the sprocket to which the chain is attached, the cam clutch (in the example shown) rotates freely between the roll shaft and the inner race, adjusting the roll rotation speed.

Purpose of use and operation explanation

A sprocket is attached to outer race the cam clutch, and rotation is transmitted from outer race to inner race (roll) through the engagement of the cam clutch.

When the cloth or thread dries and the rotation speed of the roll side becomes faster than the drive (outer race side) of the chain, inner race side of the cam clutch will spin freely.

Chain drive = Blue
If the roll side rotates faster, it will be green.

With Tsubaki Cam Clutch...

The cam clutch must be selected based on the roll shaft diameter, required torque, rotation speed, etc.
You can select a cam clutch according to your usage conditions, sprocket model number, and installation method.
Yes, it is possible.
In addition, you can select specifications that are suitable for your operating conditions, such as when the ambient temperature is high, including lubrication conditions.

Advantages of using a Cam Clutch

  • - Cam clutches automatically engage and idle just by changing the rotation speed.
  • - No control device is required to adjust the speed difference, allowing for smooth speed changes.
