BS Series: Handle with care

  • 1. Cam clutch designed specifically for preventing reverse rotation of low-speed shafts such as conveyors and pumps.
  • 2. Lubrication method and dust prevention measures
    BS30~BS135 BS160~BS350
Lubrication specifications Grease is already packed in.
    No greasing is required.
It is a grease lubricated type, so it only needs to be changed once a year.
Dust prevention measures ・Double lip oil seal ・Dustproof plate
    ・Double lip oil seal
  • 3. Before installation, be sure to check that the rotation direction inner race of the BS Cam Clutch (arrow on the end face of inner race) is the same as the rotation direction of the conveyor.
  • 4. Securely attach the torque arm to the BS Cam Clutch body with bolts of strength classification 10.9 or higher. Also, make sure that the surface that comes into contact with outer race end face of the torque arm is flat and free of dirt, etc., so that sufficient friction can be obtained when tightening the bolts.
  • 5. A shaft diameter tolerance of h7 or h8 is recommended.
  • 6. When fitting the BS Cam Clutch onto the shaft, be sure to apply force to the end face inner race. Never hit the end face inner race directly with an iron hammer, or apply force to outer race, oil seal, or dustproof plate (grease seal).
  • 7. When mounting to the shaft, be sure to use a parallel key and secure with an end plate. Never use a hammer key or similar to hit the top of the key, as this may damage the cam clutch.
  • 8. The tip of the torque arm will swing to a certain extent in the axial direction while the shaft is rotating. The tip of the torque arm should be prevented from rotating only in the rotational direction, and should be given sufficient freedom in the axial direction to allow for this swing (see installation diagram). If the tip of the torque arm is completely fixed, twisting will occur inside the cam clutch, which may result in damage.
  • 9. For BS30 to BS200, one torque arm on one side is sufficient, but for BS220 to BS450, use arms on both sides so that the point of force is in the center and not to one side.
  • 10. The torque arm and safety cover for the BS Cam Clutch are also standardized, so please use them.
  • 11. For information on lubrication and maintenance, please see here.
