Application Examples Cam Clutch - 14. Material Conveying Device

application

Indexing

It is also called rotational intermittent feed.
The constant cycle motion of outer race is converted into intermittent rotational motion and transmitted to inner race (shaft).
This method involves repeated high frequency engagement and idling.

Overrunning

When outer race of the Cam Clutch are engaged and torque is transmitted, the difference in rotation speed and direction of outer race causes
This is a method of use in which the wheel spins freely and repeatedly, similar to the freewheeling motion of a car.

Purpose of use and operation explanation

Example 1 is an example in which two cam clutches are installed, one for indexing and one for overlung.
Cam clutch A converts the reciprocating motion of the rack caused by the air cylinder into intermittent motion, and indexes (intermittently feeds) the roll via a worm gear. In this case, Cam clutch B is engaged. When you want to drive the roll continuously without indexing, drive shaft b in the direction of A to rotate the roll continuously. In this case, Cam clutch B runs idle, and is disconnected from Cam clutch A.
In Example 2, Cam Clutch A is for indexing and Cam Clutch B is for overrunning.
outer race of Cam Clutch A is attached to the arm and inner race is attached to the shaft. outer race of Cam Clutch B is attached to the worm wheel and inner race is attached to the shaft.
During indexing, Cam Clutch A performs intermittent feeding, and during continuous operation, the worm gear rotates and Cam Clutch B engages, causing inner race of Cam Clutch A to spin freely.

Tsubaki Cam Clutch

The cam clutch must be selected based on the roll shaft diameter, required torque, rotation speed, etc.
You can select a cam clutch according to your usage conditions, sprocket model number, and installation method.
Yes, it is possible.
In addition, you can select specifications that are suitable for your operating conditions, such as when the ambient temperature is high, including lubrication conditions.

Advantages of using a Cam Clutch

  • - Cam clutches automatically engage and idle just by changing the rotation speed.
  • - Operation can be switched between intermittent feed and continuous operation without the need for a device to control it.
