technical data Reducer Miter Bevel Gearbox Handling

This section describes general matters regarding handling.

For details, please refer to Instruction Manuals attached to the product.

2. Installation

2-1. Ambient conditions

Install the unit in a location with an ambient temperature between -10°C and 50°C, that is well ventilated and has minimal dust and humidity.

Avoid using this product in places where corrosive liquids or gases are present, or in places where there are flammable or explosive substances.

Also, when using outdoors, please use a cover to protect it from direct rain and other elements.

2-2. Transportation

When transporting, always use the eyebolts or hanging hardware on the top of the case, and never hang wires or the like on the lateral or cross shafts.

Eccentricity of the shaft may shorten the lifespan or cause malfunction.

Note: ED2, 4, 6 and ARA Gear Box do not have eyebolts.

2-3. Installation

Install the unit on a sturdy, flat surface and tighten it firmly.

At this time, make sure to install Miter Gear Box completely so that the mounting surface is in perfect contact and vibration is not generated.

There are no restrictions on the installation angle for ED2, 4 and ARA Gear Box, but ED6 to 16 must be within ±5°, and ED20 and 25 must be within ±2°.

To install ARA Gear Box, use the three central mounting holes or the four mounting holes on the flange surface.

Recommended mounting bolt size

ED 2 4 6 7 8 10 12 16 20 25
bolt M8 M8 M12 M12 M12 M14 M18 M20 M18 M20

Note)

  • 1. After installing the equipment, be sure to grease it before use. For details, refer to "Replenishing grease."
  • 2. ED2 and 4 can be installed in any direction, but ED6 to 25 should not be installed in any direction other than that specified at the time of order.
(If you change the installation example, the positions of the oil gauge, grease nipple, etc. will change, so please contact us.)
  • 3. ED12 and above require the installation of a pressure vent, so after installation is complete, replace the hole plug in the specified position with the included pressure vent.

2-4. Consolidation

  • - When installing pulleys, sprockets, and couplings on the lateral and cross shafts of Miter Gear Box or ARA Gear Box, be careful not to bend the shafts or damage the bearings, oil seals, etc.
  • - Center the shaft accurately. Shaft eccentricity and excessive radial load will shorten the life of the gears, bearings, and shaft, and may cause noise and vibration.
  • - When using couplings, install them as accurately as possible within the centering tolerance range recommended by each manufacturer.
Our flexible couplings come in a wide variety and are ideal for your application.
