technical data Clutch Handling

BB Series Handle with care

  • 1. The BB type is installed by press fit, and the bearing and clutch function can be achieved by providing the appropriate interference. Be sure to finish the shaft and housing to the recommended dimensions listed on each product page. Insufficient interference may prevent torque transmission.
  • 2. When installing a sprocket or gear into a housing, apply pressure to outer race to press fit. At the same time, insert another ball bearing (see Figure 1).
  • 3. When installing onto the shaft, press fit while applying a load to inner race of the clutch assembled into the housing (see Figure 2).
  • 4. When press fit the Cam Clutch onto the housing and shaft at the same time, avoid applying a load only to inner race or outer race. Also, avoid hitting the clutch with a hammer or other object.
  • 5. If foreign matter gets inside the Cam Clutch, it may impair the function of the Cam Clutch. Please handle with care and take sufficient dust-proof measures.
  • 6. The product is pre-filled with grease (EXXON MOBILE Beacon 325J) and can be used immediately. The usable ambient temperature range is -30°C to 80°C.
  • 7. If using oil lubrication, rinse off the grease before use. See here for oil brands. Keep the oil level above the shaft center.
  • 8. Never use oil or grease containing extreme pressure additives, as they can cause the clutch to slip.

BB Series 1K-K Type (with inner race keyway) Handle with care
BB Series 2K-K Type (with inner and outer race keyways) Handle with care

  • 1. The BB-1K-K type has slip fit with the shaft and an interference fit with the housing. Torque is transmitted through interference with the housing, so be press fit to finish the housing dimensions and wall thickness to the recommended dimensions listed on each product page. Insufficient interference may prevent torque transmission.
  • 2. The BB-2K-K type has slip fit with the shaft and an intermediate fit with the housing. Use the included key to secure it in place.
  • 3. When installing a sprocket or gear into a housing, apply pressure evenly to outer race to press fit in the BB-1K-K type, and secure the BB-2K-K type using the included key.
Also, avoid hitting the clutch with a hammer or other object. At that time, insert another ball bearing (see Figure 1).
  • 4. When attaching to the shaft, please use the included dedicated key to secure it in place. Never use a hammer key or similar to hit the top of the key.
  • 5. The standard for keys and keyways is DIN6885.3. However, the keyway depth on inner race side of the BB25-1K-K and BB25-2K-K is 0.5 mm shallower than the standard value. Therefore, make the keyway on the shaft side 0.5 mm deeper. The standard for inner race side key and keyway of the BB40-1K-K and BB40-2K-K is DIN6885.1.
  • 6. If foreign matter gets inside the Cam Clutch, it may impair the function of the Cam Clutch. Please handle with care and take sufficient dust-proof measures.
  • 7. The product is pre-filled with grease (EXXON MOBILE Beacon 325J) and can be used immediately. The usable ambient temperature range is -30°C to 80°C.
  • 8. If using oil lubrication, rinse off the grease before use. See here for oil brands. Keep the oil level above the shaft center.
  • 9. Never use oil or grease containing extreme pressure additives, as they can cause the clutch to slip.

BB Series 2GD Type (with rubber contact seals on both sides) Handle with care

  • 1. The BB-2GD type is installed by press fit, and the bearing and clutch functions can be achieved by providing the appropriate interference.
  • 3. When installing the housing (with the clutch already installed) onto the shaft, press fit while applying a load to inner race the clutch (see Figure 2).
  • 4. When press fit the Cam Clutch onto the housing and shaft at the same time, avoid applying a load only to inner race or outer race. Also, avoid hitting the clutch with a hammer or other object.
  • 5. The product is pre-filled with grease (EXXON MOBILE Beacon 325J) and can be used immediately. The usable ambient temperature range is -30°C to 80°C.

BB Series 2GD1K-K Type (Rubber Contact Seals on Both Sides, inner race with Key Groove) Handle with Care

  • 1. The fit with the shaft is slip fit, and the fit with the housing is press fit. Torque is transmitted through the interference with the housing, so be sure to finish the housing dimensions and wall thickness to the recommended dimensions listed on each product page. Insufficient interference may prevent torque transmission.
  • 2. When installing a sprocket or gear into a housing, apply uniform pressure to outer race to press fit. Also, avoid hitting the clutch with a hammer or other object. At this time, insert another ball bearing (see Figure 1).
  • 3. When attaching to the shaft, please use the included dedicated key to secure it in place. Never use a hammer key or similar to hit the top of the key.
  • 4. The standard for keys and keyways is DIN6885.3. However, the keyway depth on inner race of the BB25-2GD1K-K is 0.5 mm shallower than the standard value. Therefore, make the keyway on the shaft 0.5 mm deeper. The standard for inner race key and keyway of the BB40-2GD1K-K is DIN6885.1.
  • 5. The product is pre-filled with grease (EXXON MOBILE Beacon 325J) and can be used immediately. The usable ambient temperature range is -30°C to 80°C.
