technical data Drive chain Roller Chain Selection

8. Example of traction of a carriage

Below is a typical example of using roller chains to tow a trolley.
One method is to attach the roller chain to the cart with End fixture and tow the cart with a sprocket on one end (left figure), and the other is to
One method is to install a drive unit on the cart and secure both ends of the roller chain with End fixture (see diagram on the right).

A similar method can be used when the trolley is towing on an incline. In the case of an incline as shown in the left figure, the drive sprocket is installed at the top.

Points to note when selecting roller chains for traction trucks

When there are regulations

When selecting a roller chain, if there are restrictions imposed by law or guidelines, select the roller chain according to those restrictions and also based on allowable tension, and then select the roller chain with the greater allowance.

About connecting links

Use an F-type connecting link. If the impact is small and there is no risk of side force, an M-type connecting link can also be used. Avoid using offset links.

About lubricating

When oiling, remove as much load as possible from articulate parts of the roller chain.
Also apply oil to the connection points between End fixture (such as the end bolt and connecting link).
