Improved corrosion resistance of the coupling that connects the cooling tower fan and motor
To prevent corrosion of the coupling that connects the fan and motor in a cooling tower filled with steam, we have adopted the stainless steel specification of ECHT-FLEX Coupling NEF series.
| Problem | Industry | Purpose | Product group |
|---|---|---|---|
| corrosion | Paper, cement, woodworking | Connect | Coupling |
Problem
Because the cooling water contains chemicals, the disks used in the couplings, even though made of SUS304, were corroded and damaged early, so a disk made of a material that could withstand this was required.
Adopted products
ECHT-FLEX Coupling NEF Series (Disc Coupling)
The disc shape is optimally designed using FEM, ensuring reliable torque transmission and absorbing misalignment, while also providing excellent features such as high-precision positioning and no lubrication.
There are a wide variety of shaft fastening methods available, and environmentally resistant specifications are also available.
*In this example, a special specification is available in which the coupling body is made of stainless steel and the disc is made of CFRP.
Benefits of adopting the product
By using an all-stainless steel + CFRP disc for the coupling, we were able to increase the amount of misalignment absorption, achieve higher corrosion resistance than conventional stainless steel discs, and prevent damage caused by disc corrosion.
