Roller chain coupling

  • 1. Place the oil seal on either the left or right sprocket with the lip of the seal facing the teeth.
(If installing vertically, install the oil seal on the upper sprocket.)オイルシール, スプロケット
  • 2. The side of the sprocket is brought into tight contact with the sprocket, correcting the Angular Misalignment and eccentricity.
    角度誤差

Correct the angle so that the tooth side length T is equal around the circumference.
Allowable declination angle (Angular Misalignment) θ = 1° or less

    平行誤差

Place something straight against tooth root to ensure there is no misalignment at tooth root.
Allowable eccentricity (parallelism error) ε = 2% or less of chain pitch (see values in the table below)

When using at speeds of 1/3 or more of the maximum rotational speed in kW ratings table the mounting tolerance should be θ = 0.5° or less, and ε = 1% of the chain pitch or less.

  • 3. Adjust the distance between both sprockets to dimension S (see dimension table), and secure the sprockets in place with the set screws.
  • 4. Apply grease to the S-size area between both sprockets and also to the teeth.

Next, apply grease to the chain, wrap it around the sprocket, and secure it with a coupling pin. Insert the coupling pin from the oil seal side, and set it so that spring clip or cotter pin is on the side opposite the oil seal, and check that it is securely attached.

    グリースを両スプロケット間のS寸法部につめ、歯部にも塗布します。
  • 5. If a case is used, apply the required amount of grease to both sides of the case and securely attach both cases to the sprockets with bolts.

There may be a small amount of grease leakage at the beginning of operation, but it will soon stabilize. If the leakage does not stop, please check that there are no problems with the installation.

  • Notes: 1. Each tolerance assumes that other errors are zero.

Usage notes

  • 1. In applications involving high speed rotation or severe vibration, be sure to apply a locking agent to the bolts before installing the case.
  • 2. Install a fixed cover to protect against any unforeseen circumstances, such as loose bolts, damage to the case, or broken chain.
  • 3. When removing the chain during installation or inspection, make sure that the load side of the equipment does not become free, creating a dangerous situation, before starting work.
  • 4. Please contact us if you plan to use the product in an environment where grease leakage is unacceptable.
  • 5. When installing or inspecting the product, be sure to read the instruction manual carefully beforehand.

Case structure and role

The case is split so that it can be separated perpendicular to the axis for easy installation and inspection, and the mating part with the boss holds the boss firmly and is precisely finished to prevent eccentricity.

The other hole is a trapezoidal groove into which an oil seal is inserted to prevent oil leakage and to hold the sprocket boss freely so as not to impair the flexibility of the coupling.

The split joints are made oil-tight by inserting a packing and secured with bolts.

Attaching a case to a chain coupling prevents lubricant from scattering and dust from entering, ensuring complete lubrication and significantly extending the life of the coupling. It also protects the main body from corrosive atmospheres, prevents danger, and improves the appearance.

Please consult us when installing a case, especially if the start/stop frequency is high or vibration is large.

Be sure to use the case in the following cases:

  • (1) When used at high rotation speeds (see notes in kW ratings table).
  • (2) When used in an abrasive atmosphere such as dusty areas.
  • (3) When used in a corrosive atmosphere such as a humid environment.
