technical data Reducer Worm Reducer Handling

This page describes general matters regarding the handling of the EWJ, EWJM(R), EW, EWM(R), SWJ, SWJM(R), SW, SWM(R), and TD series.

For details, please refer to Instruction Manuals attached to the product.

6. Driving

・This machine is shipped with lubricating oil sealed inside. Before operation, please replace the plug with a pressure vent.
(Note: If the valve is not replaced, the internal pressure may increase, resulting in oil leakage.)
No pressure vent is required for EWJ/EWJM(R) (including Double reduction) and SWJ/SWJM(R). Use them as delivered.

6-1. Recheck before driving

  • After installation is complete, please double-check the following points before starting operation.
    • (1) Is the lubricating oil level correct? (If the oil level is visible on the oil gauge, the oil level is correct.)
    • (2) Is a pressure vent installed? (If the installation direction is special and a grease nipple is included, please also install the grease nipple.)
    • (3) Is the machine properly connected to the other machine?
    • (4) Are the mounting bolts securely tightened?
    • (5) Is the rotation direction correct?
  • ・For reducers with motors, in addition to the above items, please also recheck the items listed below.
  • -Are the appropriate circuit breaker and overcurrent relays installed?
  • -Is there any wiring error?
  • -Is the grounding wire securely connected?
  • ・In order to prevent danger before it occurs, please take measures on the equipment side to prevent a dangerous situation from occurring even if it is predicted that operating this reducer will pose a danger or if the reducer stops functioning properly.

6-2. Break-in

・The product is not run-in before shipping. To ensure proper performance, run it for about a day at 1/2 to 1/3 of the normal load.

Load

- Applying a load greater than the specified value will have a negative impact on the life of the reducer and may even damage it. Be careful not to apply a load greater than the specified value.

6-4. Checking after starting operation

  • After starting operation, check the following items:
    • (1) Are there any abnormal vibrations or noises?
    • (2) Has there been any impact?
    • (3) Is there any abnormal temperature rise?
  • - The reducer may heat up a little during the first 2-3 days of operation, but this is not abnormal. However, if the temperature of the reducer case exceeds 100°C, please note that this may be due to insufficient capacity, excessive or insufficient lubricant, or improper installation. In this case, please be careful when inspecting the reducer, as there is a risk of burns if you touch it directly with your bare hands.
